‘Snow White’ Finally Gets a Disney+ Release Date
After a disastrous box office run that saw Disney lose north of $130 million, Snow White is heading to Disney+.
A modern retelling of the beloved Disney animated film, Snow White stars Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, and Andrew Burnap.
“In the heart of a dark forest, the lovely young princess Snow White seeks sanctuary in a quaint cottage belonging to seven dwarfs, escaping the wrath of her envious stepmother, the wicked Queen,” the film’s synopsis reads.

Released amid a myriad of controversies, Snow White was both a box office bomb and a public relations disaster for Disney. As previously noted, the studio reportedly lost over $130 million.
With star Rachel Zegler grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons, the film was essentially dead on arrival.

Thankfully for Disney, box office numbers only make up part of a film’s value. The studio will now look to recoup its losses through merchandising, home video release, and a boost in viewership on Disney+.
‘Snow White’ Is Coming to Disney+ This Month
Today, Disney announced that Snow White will arrive on June 11 on Disney+.

The hope for Disney is that the film will find the audience that eluded it in theaters on streaming. Perhaps families were simply waiting for the film, which received middling critical reviews and poor audience scores, to arrive on streaming before seeing it.
It will be interesting to see how Snow White performs on Disney+.
