Disney Is Facing a Lawsuit After Man Falls Off His Inner Tube at Blizzard Beach
Walt Disney World is facing a new lawsuit after a man claims he was hurt while riding one of the signature water slides at Blizzard Beach.
In a new lawsuit, Eugene Strickland says he was visiting the Disney water park in 2021 when he decided to ride Downhill Double Dipper.
For those who may not know, Downhill Double Dipper opened with the rest of Blizzard Beach in 1995. The attraction invites guests to “race against a friend on side-by-side high-speed slides that bring out your competitive streak.”

The 50-foot slide reaches max speeds of 25 mph.
The Incident in Question
While going down the Downhill Double Dipper, Strickland claims he was thrown from his inner tube and came crashing down on the plastic slide. According to his suit, he suffered “catastrophic injuries.”

“While sliding down… (Strickland) became momentarily airborne as a result of the rides’ ‘exhilarating speeds’ and design, resulting on Disney’s inner tube becoming forcibly, suddenly and unexpectedly dislodged from underneath (Strickland’s) body,” the lawsuit reads.
The Plaintiff Is Seeking $50,000
The suit goes on to accuse Disney of various forms of negligence regarding the slide, including using inner tubes that were not properly inflated.

Stickland is suing for $50,000.
An Interesting Wrinkle
It should be noted that when riding Downhill Double Dipper, Strickland admits he weighed 334 pounds, 34 pounds heavier than the slide’s 300-pound weight limit.
