Disney Partners with Weatherstem in New Weather Monitoring Collaboration
Weatherstem and Disney SyncLink have reached a new agreement that will improve Disney’s ability to monitor the weather more effectively and improve the safety of the Disney Cruise Line.
According to a report from the Tallahassee Democrat, the deal between Disney and Weatherstem began last year after Disney learned of the company’s partnership with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM).
Weatherstem’s work with FDEM eventually led to the creation of the Florida Severe Weather Mesonets, a solar-powered radar that “provides real-time, hyper-local weather data to state agencies, local governments, and the public.”

“It turns out most counties in the state have these systems. And one county that has embraced the program is Osceola County … Disney itself has properties all over the world,” he said.
Per the Disney SyncLink website:
“Weatherstem’s real-time weather data and alerting capabilities, integrated with Disney’s expertise in managing outdoor environments, provides innovative solutions for coastal safety and surf condition awareness. Advanced tools empower guests and safety personnel with crucial information for a safer and more magical experience by the water.”
A New Procedure
Previously, each of Disney’s properties was responsible for weather monitoring. Now, the weather safety procedures will be consolidated.

“This initiative empowers beachgoers and responders with crucial knowledge assisting in the prevention of water-related incidents and enhancing public safety,” said Greg Hale, chief safety officer and vice president at Disney Worldwide Safety, Health, Engineering and Sourcing, in a statement posted to the Disney SyncLink website.
“Together, we can support a safe day at the beach for everyone.”
