PHOTOS: Walt Disney World Remains Busy as Epic Universe Celebrates Grand Opening
A new era in theme park history is unfolding before our eyes this morning, as Epic Universe is now officially open!
Ahead of Epic’s opening, observers and fans alike have speculated on the new park’s impact on Walt Disney World.
One line of thinking says that Epic will siphon off Walt Disney World guests and perhaps burst the Disney Bubble that has long kept visitors on property.
The other possibility, however, is that the rising tide will lift all boats, and Disney will benefit from the influx of new visitors to Central Florida. Disney has taken this view, at least publicly.
With Epic Universe now open, we got our first indication of how the new park will affect Disney World this morning. Here is the latest.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
It was business as usual at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where guests flocked to the park.
As the gates opened, guests lined up to get a jump start on all the fun awaiting them.
As you can see, the crowd levels were fairly average, especially considering the time of year.
Here is another look.
The line for Tower of Terror extended down Sunset Boulevard this morning.
Needless to say, Hollywood Studios is pretty busy!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Moving over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, crowds were lighter this morning.
Still, it was not anything out of the ordinary.
As you can see, it is business as usual at Walt Disney World today. While it is a small sample size, so far, The Most Magical Place on Earth is not feeling any heat from Epic Universe.
