‘Lilo & Stitch’ Is Tracking Toward a MASSIVE Opening Weekend
After a sparkling 2024, Disney has struggled at the box office so far this year.
The studio has released four major films in 2025. The first was the underwhelming Captain America: Brave New World. Then came the disaster that was Snow White and the largely ignored The Account 2.
While the jury is still out on Thunderbolts*, it is now clear that the film will not be an earth-shattering hit.

Needless to say, Disney could use a box office win. Thankfully, Lilo & Stitch will hit theaters this weekend.
‘Lilo & Stitch’ Looks Like a Blockbuster
A remake of the beloved 2002 animated feature film, Lilo & Stitch is shaping up to be another Disney blockbuster.
As of this writing, the film is tracking towards a $150 million domestic opening. That number would be the second biggest Memorial Day opening ever, behind only Top Gun: Maverick.
Additionally, it would best Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End ($139.8 million) to set a new Memorial Day high-water mark for Disney.

Internationally, Lilo & Stitch is tracking towards a $125 international opening, for a global debut of $275 million.
Can ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Hit $1 Billion?
By every possible metric, Lilo & Stitch looks like a box office behemoth. At this point, the only question is how far the film will climb. Based on the early numbers and strong reviews, we should soon be looking at Disney’s next $1 billion film.
