Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle Celebrates the Opening of Epic Universe
With Epic Universe set to officially open tomorrow, a new era in theme park history is unfolding before our eyes in Central Florida.
In the lead-up to Epic’s opening, analysts and fans have debated the new park’s effect on Walt Disney World.
One line of thinking is that Epic Universe will shatter the Disney Bubble and draw guests outside Disney World’s confines. For Disney, the fear would be that guests simply choose Universal over Disney World.

However, another line of thinking is that Epic Universe will attract more visitors to Central Florida, providing new audiences for both Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.
This is Disney’s viewpoint. At least publicly.
Josh D’Amaro Weighed in Last Week
Last week, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro projected confidence at the MoffettNathanson Media, Internet & Communications Conference.

“If something is built new in central Florida, like Epic Universe,” he said. “That tourist is going to have to visit the Magic Kingdom.”
Now, Walt Disney World president Jeff Vahle has weighed in.

In a new post on Instagram, Vahle congratulated Universal on the opening of Epic Universe, calling it a “win” for Florida tourism.
“It takes great passion and dedication to bring new projects to life. Best of luck to the Universal Orlando team with the opening of Epic Universe! Another big win for tourism in Florida,” Vahle said.
