Conan O’Brien Will Voice Smarty Pants in ‘Toy Story 5’
31 years after audiences were first introduced to Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the rest of Andy’s toys, the gang will return for Toy Story 5.
Originally announced at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, the fifth installment in the Toy Story franchise will reunite Woody with his friends and see them face their biggest challenge yet- technology.
“Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder when they go head to head with an all-new threat to playtime: technology,” the film’s synopsis reads.

Like previous Toy Story installments, Toy Story 5 will see the return of the franchise’s core stars and introduce new characters to the ever-expanding world.
One of these new characters will be voiced by Conan O’Brien.
Conan’s Big Break
During yesterday’s Disney Licensing Expo, the company announced that O’Brien will voice a new character named Smarty Pants in Toy Story 5.

The comedian confirmed the news in a humorous social media post, in which he quipped that he originally wanted the role of Buzz or Woody before learning that Smarty Pants is “the best character of them all.”
“I far prefer this character,” he revealed. “I don’t even want to play Woody or Buzz anymore. Even if they begged me.”

‘Toy Story 5’
While Pixar has largely kept the plot of Toy Story 5 under wraps, according to Tim Allen, the film will focus on Jessie’s story.
“I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” Allen said. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyear. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”
Toy Story 5 will hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
