While much of the Disneyland 70 festivities are taking place at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, the resort’s hotels are also getting in on the fun.
Donald’s Tales of Adventure
Earlier this year, we brought you the exciting news that Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel was celebrating 70 years of Disneyland by debuting the new Donald’s Tales of Adventure Buffet inside Storytellers Cafe.

As it turns out, the character meal wasn’t all that the Grand Californian had in store for fans!
A New Lobby Showpiece Has Been Revealed
Today, we swung by the fan-favorite Disneyland hotel, where a mysterious structure sat covered in the lobby.
To our delight, the curtain was lifted this evening to reveal a new Donald’s Tales of Adventure display!
Created by the Grand Californian culinary team, the new display is a multi-tiered structure that features Donald and his friends spending some quality time in the wilderness.
According to a sign, the showpiece took over 400 hours to complete. In total, the team used 80 pounds of crisped rice cereal, 80 pounds of powdered sugar, 60 pounds of fondant, 40 pounds of white chocolate, 25 pounds of marshmallows, and 18 pounds of egg whites.
As you can see, the bottom portion of the display features a base of a tree stump, books, and other props.
Midway up, a faux-aquarium with a collection of expressive fish can be spotted.
The covered structure also has a “70” logo on the front!
Finally, atop the wilderness structure, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy look out on the lobby.
While the Grand Californian lobby was already impressive, the new structure adds a festive, fun feel. It’s the perfect way to celebrate both the new Donald’s Tales of Adventure buffet and Disneyland’s 70th anniversary!
