The ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot Has Found Its Lead
Last February, Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans got some exciting news when Hulu announced that it had ordered a pilot for a revival of the cult-favorite supernatural drama.
Promising to tell the “next chapter” in the Buffy story, the new series will see Sarah Michelle Gellar reprise her iconic role as the titular hero.
Prior to the reprisal’s announcement, Gellar had changed her tune and become more open to playing Buffy again.

“It’s funny, I always used to say no, because it’s in its bubble and it’s so perfect,” she told Deadline. “But watching ‘Sex and the City’ and seeing ‘Dexter,’ and realizing there are ways to do it, definitely does get your mind thinking, ‘Well, maybe.’”
Ryan Keira Armstrong Joins ‘Buffy’
Today, Hulu revealed the actress tasked with joining Gellar to carry the franchise forward — Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

According to Variety, the Buffy reboot will focus on Armstrong’s new slayer, with Gellar’s Buffy appearing in a recurring role.
Having just portrayed Fern in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Armstrong will now embark on a new adventure in another iconic franchise.
Taking to Instagram, Gellar shared the moment that she told Armstrong she had gotten the role.
“From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,” Gellar said. “To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room,” she captioned the post.

When Will the ‘Buffy’ Reboot premiere?
At this time, Hulu has not announced when the Buffy reboot will premiere.
So far, all we know is that Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman are attached to write, showrun, and executive produce the pilot, and Chloe Zhao will direct it. Joss Wheldon will not be involved.
