Walt Disney World Wait Times for First Week of May 2025
Longtime readers of this article should know the rules by now.
Soon after Easter Weekend ends, Walt Disney World’s theme parks typically experience a slowdown, one that lasts until Memorial Day Week.
Even though Easter arrived later than usual this year, the rule still applied the last time we checked, with Disney crowds dropping a bit.
However, Disney just announced that it has tracked increased attendance at all its American theme parks thus far in 2025.
Also, park officials expect big things throughout the year despite lingering economic concerns. Disney appears impervious to them thus far.
So, we’ve got quite a bit of intrigue as we examine the Walt Disney World wait times for the first full week of May 2025.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom
At Animal Kingdom, the 2025 closures have already happened, as Disney has indicated that DINOSAUR will survive until at least the start of 2026.
As such, this park has changed as much as it’s going to change this year.

That knowledge provides us with a rare bit of stability as the summer theme park campaign approaches.
For now, the question remains about whether early May crowds behaved as expected. Here are Animal Kingdom’s average wait times last week:

- Avatar Flight of Passage – 70 minutes, down 8
- Na’vi River Journey – 59 minutes, up 3
- Kali River Rapids – 40 minutes, up 3
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 40 minutes, up 5
- Expedition Everest – 38 minutes, down 2
- Adventurers Outpost – 37 minutes, up 2
- DINOSAUR – 29 minutes, up 1

Overall, the attractions at this park averaged a wait of 45 minutes, which is actually one minute more than last time.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We had a minor change at this park last week, as Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano permanently closed on May 10th.
This place was legitimately on my shortlist of worst restaurants at Walt Disney World, so I won’t miss it.

But I know that some of you have expressed sorrow over losing one of the few classic Italian restaurants on the Disney campus, though.
This change marks the true start of the re-theming of Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc. themed land.
This seems like a good time to mention that Muppet*Vision 3D closes on June 8th, giving you from now until June 7th to experience it one last time.
So, you have less than one month to celebrate the greatness of Jim Henson at Walt Disney World. Get on it!

Despite the closing, we still haven’t tracked much of a last-minute rush for Muppet*Vision 3D, which had a ten-minute wait again last week.
So, the diehards like me appear to talk about Muppet*Vision 3D more than the daily park guests seem to care that it’s leaving, which saddens me.

So, we’re halfway through this week’s discussion, and we’re trending upward by just the slightest amount.
Both parks thus far have ticked up a minute on their average wait times, which could be statistical noise. We will decide with the other two parks.

Final Thoughts

Credit: Disney
Overall, Magic Kingdom guests were thrilled to wait an average of 28 minutes per attraction, which is the same as last week.
To a larger point, anytime the average wait at this park is less than half an hour, everybody feels like a winner.
Overall, three parks increased their average wait times while Magic Kingdom remained the same.
So, we did have a slight uptick at the parks in early May.
