WATCH: The World’s Tallest Building Celebrates the Birth of Disney Abu Dhabi
In case you missed the news, earlier this week, The Walt Disney Company shocked the entertainment industry when Bob Iger announced that a new theme park resort was coming to Abu Dhabi.
During the park’s announcement, Iger revealed that he had been exploring the idea of bringing a Disney resort to the region since 2017 or 2018. Ultimately, Abu Dhabi was chosen for its central location, transportation infrastructure, and rich culture.
“This is a thrilling moment for our company as we announce plans to build an exciting Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, whose culture is rich with an appreciation of the arts and creativity,” Iger said.
The Resort Will be a Partnership Between Disney and Miral
Unlike most Disney Parks, Disney will not own and operate the new Abu Dhabi resort. Instead, Miral, an Abu Dhabi-based company specializing in creating immersive destinations and experiences, will provide the upfront capital to construct the resort and oversee its development and operation.
On the other hand, Disney will license its intellectual properties and contribute the expertise of Walt Disney Imagineering. This arrangement is similar to that of Tokyo Disneyland.

As we previously reported, Miral held a massive celebration on Yas Island to mark the dawn of Disney Abu Dhabi. However, that was not the festive surprise Abu Dhabi had in store.
The Burj Khalifa Comes to Life With Disney Magic
Earlier this morning, Yas Island shared a video on X of the Burj Khalifa celebrating Disney’s arrival in Abu Dhabi.

For those who don’t know, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world!
As you can see in the video, the skyscraper came to life for an impressive projection show.
