Disney and Lin-Manuel Miranda Are Producing a Movie Based on the Molina Brothers’ Story
If you grew up in the early 2000s, you undoubtedly remember the Molina brothers. The trio of young baseball players arrived in the majors around the same time, and quickly became staples of SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight, where broadcasters would frequently play “Name That Molina.”
While Yadier Molina would go on to have the best major league career of the three brothers, Bengie would tell his family’s story through his best-selling autobiographical book, Molina: The Story of the Father Who Raised an Unlikely Baseball Dynasty.

The film will focus on the brothers’ father, Benjamin’s journey with the boys, and their professional success. Eventually, all three brothers would make it to the major leagues and win World Series rings.
“Written with the emotional power of sports classics such as Field of Dreams and Friday Night Lights, Molina is a love story between a formidable but flawed father and a son who, in unearthing answers about his father’s life, comes to understand his own,” the book’s synopsis reads.
