With the Debut of ‘Disney Starlight’ Looming, Disney Makes a Change to a Fan-Favorite Perk
For the first time since 2016, Magic Kingdom will have a nightly parade this summer when Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away officially makes its debut.
Originally announced at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, the new procession will build on the legacy of the Main Street Electrical Parade while also using the latest technology to tell classic Disney stories.
“Disney Starlight is a constellation of Disney dreams brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy,” show director Tara Anderson explained last year.

“We’re taking this idea of a magical constellation of wishes and dreams and weaving it throughout the parade. Uniting our stories with a touch of hope and wonder.”
An Infusion of Nighttime Magic
The addition of Disney Starlight to the Magic Kingdom entertainment roster will not only add another procession to the lineup, but will also infuse the park with some nighttime magic that has been sorely missing.

“Find a sweet spot under the stars to watch Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away—a shimmering processional inspired by the classic Main Street Electrical Parade. It’s a star-kissed constellation of Disney dreams, brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy,” Disney teases.
“Watch as enchanting moments unfold from favorite Disney and Pixar stories such as ‘Moana,’ ‘Peter Pan,’ ‘Encanto,’ ‘Frozen,’ ‘Pinocchio,’ and more. It all happens along the parade route—from Frontierland to Main Street, U.S.A.”
With the debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, guests can expect Magic Kingdom to remain open later, as there will be a premier activity available after dark.
Based on the Walt Disney World schedule, it appears that these changes may impact a fan-favorite perk.
Extended Evening Hours Are Moving to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Beginning July 7, Extended Evening Hours will be moving from Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
As you can see, Animal Kingdom will remain open from 6 PM until 8 PM for guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts and other select hotels.
While Disney has yet to explain this change, the prevailing notion appears to be that Extended Evening Hours will no longer be necessary at Magic Kingdom, as the park will remain open later due to the debut of Disney Starlight.

For now, this is all speculation, but it makes sense.
If you are visiting Walt Disney World this summer, be sure to plan ahead. You may be able to take advantage of both Extended Evening Hours at Animal Kingdom and elongated hours at Magic Kingdom.
