PHOTOS: Construction on Disney Lakeshore Lodge Continues on Bay Lake
On October 18, 2018, Walt Disney World announced that a new resort was coming to the shores of Bay Lake. Originally named Reflections—A Disney Lakeside Lodge, the new resort was to be constructed over the remains of Disney’s River Country and integrate characters from Bambi, Brother Bear, The Fox and the Hound, and Pocahontas.
Work on the new resort, initially set to open in 2022, quickly began. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Like much of the country, Walt Disney World shut down in 2020. Suddenly, the future of Reflections became unclear.

For years, updates on the project were non-existent.
The Birth of Disney Lakeshore Lodge
Then, in 2024, plans for a new Bay Lake Resort were revived. Now named Disney Lakeshore Lodge, the newest Walt Disney World resort will be inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists. The new resort is expected to open in 2027.

Over the last several months, we have seen Lakeshore Lodge come to life before our eyes.
The Latest
Today, for example, when visiting Bay Lake, we can see that progress has been made on the hotel’s vertical construction.
