A Texas School Employee Is Going to Prison for Stealing $340,000 to Go to Disney World
A Texas school business manager has been sentenced to two years in jail after he was found guilty of stealing money to take vacations to Walt Disney World.
According to court documents, Brian Delane Looney embezzled over $340,000 from the Trinidad Independent School District (ISP) in Henderson County, Texas, between 2017 and 2023. At the time, he served as Trinidad ISP’s business manager.

Investigators say that the school employee used the money to take trips to Walt Disney World. He also used the stolen money to go on a shopping spree at the Disney Store.
What Investigators Had To Say
In their press release, the FBI noted that it is against federal law to steal from an organization receiving more than $10,000 in federal funds annually.

“Trinidad ISD is one of the poorest school districts in Texas and suffered adverse financial consequences as a result of Looney’s theft,” the press release added.
Looney Pled Guilty Last Year
In November 2024, Looney pleaded guilty to theft from a program receiving federal funds. He also liquidated his assets, including his house, to pay restitution.

As of his sentencing, Looney had paid $200,000 back. The remaining balance of the restitution judgment will be collected for 20 years after his incarceration ends.
The FBI’s Tyler Field Office investigated the case, with assistance from the Tyler Police Department and the Trinidad ISD. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Austin Wells prosecuted it.
