WATCH: Baby Tucker Takes His First Steps Onto the Animal Kingdom Savannah
Anyone who has ever visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom knows that, despite the immersive environments, amazing attractions, and world-class cuisine, the real stars of the park are the animals.
Earlier this month, we brought you the exciting news that Mara, the beloved Masai giraffe at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, had recently given birth to an adorable baby boy named Tucker.
In addition to being adorable, Tucker is also an essential part of Disney’s conservation efforts. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), there are only about 30,000 Masai giraffes in the wild, making them an endangered species.
“Tucker’s birth is really important for us. It’s a testament to Disney’s leadership in animal care and conservation and our incredible partnership with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Species Survival Plan. This plan focuses on maintaining genetic diversity of the giraffe population and helping to prevent giraffes from becoming extinct,” said Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment.

Watch Tucker Enter the Savannah
Today, Disney shared a video introducing fans to Austin, an Animal Keeper at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
In the clip, Austin travels out to the Kilimanjaro Safari’s savannah to observe as Tucker makes his debut in the environment.
Throughout the video, fans have the opportunity to see Tucker acclimate to his new surroundings and interact with the other giraffes.
