Disney Introduces a New Webpage Highlighting Their Impact on the American Economy
Ever since Bob Iger returned to Disney’s helm, he has done his best to keep the company out of the political spotlight.
In an increasingly polarized media landscape, Iger has continuously promoted Disney’s commitment to entertainment and storytelling. Additionally, he has explained that messaging is not the company’s core objective.
While Iger has generally done a good job steering the company forward and calming the political tensions that had begun to surround the company, one aspect of Disney that Iger has remained steadfast on is its importance to the economy.

Amid the Walt Disney Company’s battles with Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis, Iger and his team repeatedly highlighted Disney’s impact on Florida’s economy. As one of the largest employers in the United States, Disney knows its value and has not been shy about flaunting its economic power.
A New Webpage Has Launched
Just days after Bob Iger reportedly discussed the economic impact that tariffs would have on Disney, the company has added a new page to its corporate website that highlights its importance to the American economy.

“Today, we have more than 160,000 U.S. employees across all 50 states from virtually every trade and profession, from animators and accountants to zoning engineers and zoologists. We are invested in their success and the communities they call home. Major new initiatives like our $30 billion+ investment in our domestic theme parks will add some 10,000 new jobs in Florida and California,” Iger writes.

“And in 2025, we’ll spend over $23 billion on production for our movies and television series and licensed content, the majority of which is spent here in the U.S. Meanwhile, we’ve invested $370 million in higher education and professional development for our hourly workers nationwide through our Disney Aspire program.”

Disney Knows Its Economic Power
As Disney continues to invest in both California and Florida, the company is making sure that the force of its economic impact is recognized.
With an uncertain economic future on the horizon, the company is taking stock of where it stands and showing that it knows its value.

Whether or not Disney needs to wield its economic force, however, remains to be seen.
