A New Hope For ‘Star Wars’? Critics LOVE ‘Andor’ Season 2
After two-and-a-half years of waiting, Star Wars fans finally got to continue the story of Cassian Andor last night, when Andor Season 2 premiered on Disney+.
The twelve-episode final season of the fan-favorite Star Wars series tells Cassian’s story as he dives headfirst into the rebellion. Broken up into four, three-episode arcs, the final season of Andor leads directly into the events of Rogue One.
“‘Andor’ Season 2 will see the characters and their relationships intensify as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound,” the seasons synopsis explains.
‘Andor’ Is the Highest-Rated Star Wars Project Ever
Now that Andor Season 2 has officially premiered, we are starting to see reviews pour in. So far, critics are lauding the show’s second season, with many proclaiming that it is now the gold standard for Star Wars storytelling.
“Of all the series and films Disney has spun off from the Star Wars franchise since acquiring Lucasfilm in 2012, ‘Andor’ remains the pinnacle of creative achievement,” USA Today declared.

“It is what ‘Star Wars’ (and all sci-fi TV) can be at its peak, and I hope it’s a roadmap to the future of this entire franchise,” Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com added.

As of this writing, Andor Season 2 has a 99% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated Star Wars project ever and one of the top television series of all time.
A Path Forward
Now that Andor has come to an end, however, the question for Lucasfilm is what comes next? With Ahsoka, the only Star Wars live-action streaming series confirmed to still be in production, perhaps Disney will learn from Andor and lean into the series’ grounded, adult storytelling.

At a time when Star Wars is struggling to find a path forward, Andor may be the key.
