How to Support Animators in Need and Own a Piece of Disney History
In the aftermath of the devastating wildfires that ravaged Southern California earlier this year, the Los Angeles animation community is coming together to help those in need through their AnimAID fundraising campaign.
For those who may not be aware, AnimAID was established by the Animated Film Society in collaboration with animators and studios. Their goal is to give back to animators in need.

To help raise money for those who have been devastated by the wildfires, AnimAID will be holding an auction titled “The Art of Animation,” which will include drawings, paintings, animation cels, and maquette figures from some of the biggest films in history.
A Treasure Trove of Animation History
Many of the items were donated by Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, DreamWorks, and Paramount. They include artwork related to Snow White, The Simpsons, Inside Out, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Beauty and the Beast.

“AnimAID is a powerful reminder of the unity and compassion that define our animation community,” said Aubry Mintz, executive director of AnimAID and ASIFA-Hollywood. “As we face the devastating aftermath of the wildfires, this initiative allows us to come together not only to provide essential relief, but also to honor the artists and professionals who have given so much to the world of animation. We are deeply grateful for the generous support from all our collaborations, and we are thrilled to share these iconic pieces of animation history with the public.”
When the Auction Will Take Place
The Art of Animation auction will take place online from April 23 through April 30. Prior to that, the pieces will be on display at Sotheby’s New York galleries from April 11 to 15.
