Box Office Run For ‘Snow White’ Ends on a Grumpy Note
While Disney has had its fair share of box office bombs over the past couple of years, with Strange World, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Haunted Mansion, The Marvels, and Wish all falling far short of expectations, those films look like successes compared to Snow White.
After numerous delays, several reshoots, and a boatload of controversy, Disney’s Snow White finally landed in theaters on March 21, 2025. With a budget of between $240 and $270 million, Disney needed the film to have an extended box office run to turn a profit.

Unfortunately, the film was dead on arrival.
Snow White’s Not-So-Happily Ever After
Amid a myriad of controversies, Snow White opened to poor reviews and a disastrous opening weekend. From there, the film’s performance has only gotten worse.
As of this writing, Snow White has grossed just $85 million at the domestic box office and $100 million overseas.

With the film’s theatrical run coming to a close, it now appears certain that Snow White will not reach the $100 million mark at the domestic box office and may not even gross $200 million worldwide.
Based on those numbers, Disney stands to lose at least $130 million on the film. Overall, the film has been a disaster for the studio.
‘Lilo & Stitch’ To Save the Day
The good news for Disney is that its next live-action remake, Lilo & Stitch, is shaping up to be a box office behemoth. If the film can deliver strong reviews, Disney will have another blockbuster on their hands, and the disaster that was Snow White will quickly be forgotten.

For the studio, May 23 likely can’t get here soon enough.
