A New ‘Star Wars’ Streaming Series Is in Development
If you have been following along here at MickeyBlog, you know that Star Wars Celebration 2025 took place last weekend in Tokyo, Japan.
The biennial gathering of Star Wars fans from across the globe was an action-packed event with plenty of announcements, previews, and celebrity surprises.

With the galaxy’s attention focused on Lucasfillm, the studio took the opportunity this weekend to lay out its future plans for Star Wars.
The Future of ‘Star Wars’ Streaming
To that end, we learned that Star Wars: Starfighter will hit theaters in 2027, a new Darth Maul animated series is coming to Disney+, and eight films are currently in some stage of development.

Needless to say, Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to.
While Lucasfilm had much to say about its upcoming slate of films, updates on the studio’s plans for live-action streaming were more sparse.
With the final season of Andor set to kick off tomorrow, The Acolyte canceled, and The Mandalorian’s future unclear, the only live-action project we know is currently in production is Ahsoka Season 2.

Interestingly, however, just one day after Star Wars Celebration ended, it looks like we have breaking news on the streaming front.
A New Series Is in Development
According to a report from Variety, former Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse and his son, Nick, are developing a new Star Wars series.
There is no word yet about what the series will entail or when it will be set in the Star Wars timeline.

While fans will have to wait longer for the details, they can take solace in the fact that Lucasfilm is clearly dedicated to making more streaming series.
