New Adventures: Millennium Falcon Gets Major Upgrade at Disney Parks

Walt Disney Imagineering just wrapped up an exciting panel featuring Imagineers Anisha Deshmane and Michael Serna, along with Matt Martin from Lucasfilm, and they shared some exciting updates.
The team revealed thrilling news for Star Wars fans coming to Disney parks around the world.
A Reimagined Smugglers Run
Big changes are coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run starting May 22, 2026, at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
Guests will soon take control of the iconic ship in brand new ways.
For the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own destination allowing riders to explore new paths to Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star, or the newly revealed city-planet of Coruscant. Engineers will also be able to communicate with Grogu during the mission.
A New Mission
Launching the same day as The Mandalorian and Grogu film, the ride’s new storyline follows a different arc.
Hondo Ohnaka has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates prompting guests to borrow the Falcon and join Mando and Grogu to capture the bounty and explore the galaxy.
Cutting-Edge Disney Technology
None of this would be possible without Disney’s partnership with Industrial Light and Magic. Using Unreal Engine 5 by Epic Games, the same technology behind The Mandalorian on Disney+, the attraction will be even more immersive and offer a thrilling cinematic experience.
BDX Droids Make a Surprise Appearance
To close the panel, fan-favorite BDX Droids made a special apperance. Currently at Tokyo Disney Resort, they’ll soon make limited-time appearances at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris.
