MickeyBlog News for April 21st, 2025
Happy Easter, everyone!
Whether you’re religious or not, you’re likely still enjoying a lovely holiday in springtime.
So, I’ll be brief in this week’s MickeyBlog News. Here’s everything you need to know.
Meet the Disney Destiny

Disney Cruie Line
Later this year, Disney Cruise Line (DCL) will increase its fleet size by 33 percent when it introduces two new ships.
This past week, Disney thoughtfully invited MickeyBlog to a media event on the Disney Wish.
As part of these proceedings, we also stopped at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for a briefing on what’s coming soon.
Disney revealed several delightful details about the Disney Destiny, the next ship in the fleet.
This vessel will embark on its maiden voyage on November 20th, 2025, which means it isn’t quite ready to host people yet.
So, Disney dressed up parts of the Disney Wish to show what tourists can expect on the Destiny.
Let’s just say that we were charmed, especially by Hero Minnie.
In case you haven’t heard, the theme of the Destiny will focus on heroes and villains, and who is a greater heroine than Minnie?!

Super Hero Minnie – Disney Destiny Preview
While she’s utterly charming, she’s only one part of the Destiny experience, which will begin the moment you enter the Grand Hall.
You’ll reflexively shout, “Wakanda Forever!” as you board the ship because you’ll see your king, T’Challa, on display.
In this way, Disney will honor the character of Black Panther but also the legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman.
Thoughtful touches like that permeate throughout the ship, as we discovered while exploring the staterooms.
Yes, the art above your bed will display several heroines and heroes in action shots.
More about the Disney Destiny
You’ll find these characters throughout the ships as well. Marvel champions will appear frequently on the Destiny.
Black Panther and Spider-Man are two of the superheroes we met, but we should stress that Disney Villains will appear, too.
We met Maleficent and Cruella de Vil during our brief sojourn on the ship. As a reminder, Cruella will host a piano bar, too.
Speaking of Spider-Man, he and his Spider-Bots will appear on the ship’s stern.

Drink Preview – The Sanctum
Meanwhile, guests can hang out with Dr. Strange in his Sanctum, a lounge that serves exotic Marvel beverages.
Fans of The Incredibles are in for a treat as well. The Destiny’s dessert shop will be Edna Á La Mode Sweets.
Dahling, you know that you’ll love every bite. Edna’s too much of a perfectionist to make anything other than the ultimate cupcake.
As proof, you’ll find pictures in this article. I don’t know what that blue twirling thing is, but it’s now my life’s mission to find out.
Basically, we found spectacular Destiny amenities at every turn, and we cannot wait to set foot on the real ship in November.

Disney Miscellany
I know that there’s an Easter Egg search to do. So, let’s quickly go through everything else big this week.
For starters, Disney provided new details about The Lion King attraction coming to Disneyland Paris.
Imagineers are constructing an entire themed land based on the beloved story, but that’s not all!
Disney also revealed the existence of an Up ride coming to the park as well!
You should keep your expectations modest, as it looks like more of a carnival ride at Disney California Adventure than anything else.
Still, any ride that may possibly feature Dug is one I want to experience.

Also, remember that Destination D23 tickets went on sale Monday…and then sold out on Monday.
Why am I mentioning this? Disney is likely to announce new attractions during this event.

So, you never know. One or both of these rides may yet make an appearance in the United States!
Even if they don’t, you’ll still love all the news coming out of Destination D23. It’s the seminal Disney event of the year.

Disney Skyliner
In theme park news, I’m giving you plenty of warning that the Disney Skyliner will close for refurbishment in January.
Historically, that’s the month when Disney has done these renovations, but it didn’t have the need in 2025.

On the bright side, permits are flying left and right for the impending Cars area at Magic Kingdom.
Disney Miscellany Part II
At Disneyland, we just learned the surprising news that It’s a Small World will NOT reopen as expected this month.
At the time of publication, Disneyland shows attraction times starting on May 9th.

I presume that’s the new target date, but as long as the beloved boat ride opens before Memorial Day Week, it’s fine.
At Disney Springs, construction has started at LEVEL99, the upcoming immersive gaming experience.

Hopefully, this new entertainment option debuts within the next year, although that timeline may prove ambitious.
Finally, for those of you at home looking to experience the parks from your couch, Disney+ will hook you up soon!
On May 4th and May 6th, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Star Wars: Rise of the Experience videos will debut on the streaming service.
Since the advent of Disney+ more than five years ago, I’ve been begging for more theme park content.
So, this is welcome news for Disney fans like me.
