EVERYTHING We Learned About ‘Ahsoka’ at Star Wars Celebration 2025
With one week to go until Ahsoka Season 2 kicks off production in the United Kingdom, the series’s stars gathered in Tokyo, Japan, for Star Wars Celebration 2025.
At a time when the future of Star Wars on streaming remains clouded, Ahsoka is the franchise’s lone bright spot. Starring Rosario Dawson as the fan-favorite former Jedi Ahsoka Tano, the series received rave reviews from critics and fans alike when it debuted in 2023.

While we have long known that Ahsoka will return for a second season, details on the show have been sparse.
A Look Ahead at ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2
Yesterday, Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni, executive producer Jon Favreau, and star Rosario Dawson took the stage at Star Wars Celebration 2025 to discuss making the series’ first season.

After Favreau and Filoni discussed the inspiration behind Ahsoka and explained George Lucas’s love for the character, Dawson revealed that filming on Season 2 would begin next week.

At one point, the audience was shown a teaser for the upcoming season that included Ahsoka Tano and Baylan Skoll fighting, Ezra Bridger jumping into action, and Grand Admiral Thrawn looming.
Anakin Skywalker Will Return
As the panel began to wind down, the iconic scene from Ahsoka Season 1, in which the titular heroine is reunited with her master, Anakin Skywalker, was shown. Then, Hayden Christensen himself walked out.

“There’s not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for season two,” Christensen announced to rapturous applause.
Honoring Ray Stevenson
In addition to Anakin Skywalker’s return, we also got updates on the futures of two other fan-favorite characters. First, Dave Filoni revealed that Rory McCann will be assuming the role of Baylan Skoll from the late Ray Stevenson. Baylan’s story will continue in Season 2.
“It was a challenge for me to even consider continuing for a while,” Filoni admitted.

“But I have a great support group with Jon [Favreau] and Rosario [Dawson]. And I found a way, and I had Ray in my head. And [I’m] grateful for all those conversations with him about Baylan, so I understood what to do. It just took a while to get there. But I’m very confident now that Ray would be happy with the direction of the character that we’ve chosen.”
Admiral Ackbar vs. Grand Admiral Thrawn
Additionally, the beloved Admiral Ackbar will return to square off with Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming season! This time, however, the famed military commander will not find himself in a trap.

“It took all my effort to resist writing the line. Because I’m like, I can’t do that. That would be so lame. This guy can’t always get into the trap. You’d think he would see it this time! So there’s no way you can trap him again,” Filoni explained.

“This crowd will get it. He’s going to go head-to-head with Thrawn. So there you go. Boom! That’s what I want to see. Give him some competition, you know? What’s a Death Star compared to the blue guy?”
When Will ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Debut?
At this time, Disney has not announced when Ahsoka Season 2 will debut on Disney+.

With filming set to commence next week, it looks like we will have to wait until at least 2026.
