‘Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume’ Is Coming to South Carolina This May
Beginning May 3, Disney fans in the Palmetto State will have the opportunity to explore Disney history when Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume opens in the South Carolina State Museum.
Created by the Walt Disney Archives, the critically acclaimed exhibition features 70 costumes from numerous beloved Disney films, including Cinderella and Maleficent.

An Exploration of Creativity and Innovation
When exploring the exhibit, fans will not only come face-to-face with some of the most iconic costumes in Disney history, but they will also learn more about the innovative ways in which these iconic characters were brought to life through the artistry and imagination of their costumes.

Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume is divided into three distinct sections. One portion of the exhibition will show how costumes evolve from concept to reality. Here, guests will find quotes and written accounts from some of Hollywood’s most renowned designers.
At Cinderella’s Workshop, guests will explore a gallery that examines how designers have put their own spin on interpreting different fairy tale heroines. Here, costumes from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (1997), Into the Woods (2014), Once Upon a Time (2011-2018), and Disney’s Cinderella (2015) are displayed.

The exhibit also includes costumes worn by Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins Returns (2018), Queen Narissa in Enchanted (2007), and Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006).
