PHOTOS: Haunted Mansion Construction Is Currently Blocking Off a Fan-Favorite Photo Op
Throughout the first few months of 2025, we have seen a TON of new construction projects and refurbishments get underway at Magic Kingdom.
So far this year, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has closed for a year-long refurbishment, work is underway on Astro Orbiter, and the Emporium is undergoing some major renovations.
Later this year, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island are expected to close to facilitate the creation of a new Cars area in Frontierland.
Needless to say, it is a busy time at Magic Kingdom.
When we visited The Most Magical Place on Earth this morning, we were surprised to see that another refurbishment was seemingly underway. Here is the latest.
A Haunted Mansion Mystery Project
Guests visiting the Haunted Mansion today will notice that construction walls have gone up outside the attraction.
The work is blocking the queue’s iconic hearse, and the related Photopass opportunity is currently not being offered.
As you can see, the gates around the hearse have been closed.
Work is seemingly being done on a portion of the Haunted Mansion’s exterior, not the hearse itself.
Here is another look.
All-in-all, the project is largely out of the way and won’t drastically impact guests’ Haunted Mansion experience. Hopefully, however, the photo op returns soon.
When Will Work Conclude?
At this time, Disney has not officially announced a refurbishment or released any details on the project.
Perhaps, we will learn more soon!
