EVERYTHING Revealed at the Disney Destiny Showcase Preview Event!

We learned a ton at yesterday’s preview event for the Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Destiny!

The event was full of reveals, giving us more details and first looks at the new offerings and experiences that await guests on the ship. 

Honestly, it can be hard to keep up with all the new information–but don’t worry…we’ve compiled a list of everything revealed at the preview event!

Let’s run through everything revealed at yesterday’s preview event for the Disney Destiny, shall we?

Grand Hall

We got new looks at the ship’s Grand Hall! The décor will be inspired by the Black Panther films, with the traditional bronze sculpture having silver and purple accents, mimicking the vibranium activating on the suit. Speaking of vibranium, the hall will have a stunning chandelier inspired by the fictional metal to help set the scene. The location’s lighting will be used to transform the space for every hero–and villain–visiting the Grand Hall. Whether eerie or optimistic, the lighting will help enhance the experience by matching the various characters. 

Loki, the God of Mischief, will appear around the Grand Hall, burdened with glorious purpose (a.k.a. becoming ruler of the ship and recruiting guests for surprise competitions to prove their loyalty). You may also see other villains lurking around the hall–like Dr. Facilier!

Staterooms

At the event, we got the first look at the art pieces that will be mounted above the main bed in the staterooms, in place of a headboard. Each art piece follows the “heroes and villains” theme of the ship, with inspiration pulled from Hercules…

…Mulan…

…The Incredibles…

…Brave...

…and Sorcerer Mickey, who will only be featured in concierge rooms.

The Sanctum

The preview event gave us our first look at The Sanctum, the Disney Cruise Line’s first lounge inspired by Dr. Strange. 

We also got to see some of the cocktails guests can enjoy at this lounge, including the Circle of the Cosmos with Brunswick Aces Diamonds Gin, verjus blanc, and fresh lemon juice garnished with a lemon peel spiral, and Vapors of Valtorr with Grey Goose Altius Vodka, ginger beer, fresh lime juice, and butterfly pea flower syrup topped with berry-flavored bubbles.

Edna Á La Mode Sweets

We got a sneak peek at the two statues coming to Edna Á La Mode Sweets, “Auntie” Edna and Jack-Jack!

We also got to taste some of the location’s sweets, including Violet’s Cupcake, which is purple velvet sponge cake with white chocolate mousse, purple mirror glaze, sprinkles, and chocolate décor…

…the Edna À La Mode Cupcake, which is vanilla marble sponge cake with white chocolate mousse, red mirror glaze, sprinkles, and chocolate décor…

…and Elastigirl’s Cupcake, which is an orange-almond cake with raspberry mousse, orange chocolate velvet finish, sprinkles, and chocolate décor!

It’s not just cupcakes–we also got to dig into treats like the Edna À La Mode Cookies & Cream Cookie, a three-layer cookies ‘n cream cookie with dulce de leche!

Cruella de Vil Lounge

Our preview of the Cruella de Vil Lounge included some décor…

…Cast Member costumes…

…the dalmation print piano…

…and two of the drinks–the Fashionista with strawberry and banana infused tequila, banana liquer, lime juice, and agave nectar, and the Fearless Sir Galahand featuring Free Spirit bourbon, bourbon barrel aged maple syrup, and Angostura bitters.

Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King

At the preview of this new restaurant, we got to experience the location’s changing windows, which immerse guests in the storyline with lighting effects including a rising sun and a dark sky.

We also got to taste many of the menu items, including the Swahili Coconut-Tamarind Red Snapper Filet, served with coconut rice and pineapple-mandarin-capsicum compote…

…the Sweet Potato Lentil and Coconut Soup with pumpernickel croutons…

…the Port Wine Braised Center-Cut Beef Short Rib, served with malanga mash, long green beans, and crispy shallots…

…the Pineapple Upside Down Cake with moist yogurt cake, caramelized pineapple, cherries, and rooibos mousse…

…and the Can You Feel the Rum Tonight with rum, amarula liquer, lime juice, mango, cinnamon, and mint, and the Slimy Yet Satisfying with lime jello, Sprite, and dragonfruit syrup. (Those are only some of the items we tried, you’ll have to view our full post for everything!)

The event also had a peek at the restaurant’s place settings…

…Cast Member costumes…

…souvenirs and kids menus…

…and entertainment! Chaz and Emily, the singers during our preview, sang “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” While the show is still in development, it will have the tale of The Lion King, told by two storytellers–Mwongozo and Shaha, via singing and narration.

Hercules 

We got some more details about the live production of Hercules that will run in the ship’s theater!

During the preview event’s panel with co-directors, choreographers, and show creators, they confirmed the show will feature the same music and characters as the film, along with a new song, “Shooting Star.”

The preview included a special performance by Hercules star Corey Bradford, who sang “Go the Distance.”

Spider-Man Stern

Spider-Man will adorn the ship’s stern, making him the first Marvel character to receive that honor. Both Spider-Man and his Spider-Bots–who will have fun nautical gear on–are in the process of being installed on the ship as we speak! Characters

We got to see some of the characters who will be aboard the Disney Destiny, sailing with guests! We’ll start with Hero Minnie, who is featured on the ship’s bow.
