PHOTOS: The Lobby Renovation at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Has Begun
Late last week, we brought you the exciting news that the lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will soon undergo a major renovation.
According to Disney, the goal of the new lobby is to give the space a fresh look while maintaining the ambiance and aesthetic that fans have come to know and love.
To that end, the lobby furniture, staircase, and front desk will be refreshed with a mix of botanical accents and inviting colors to create an “airy, garden-like atmosphere.”

When completed, the Grand Floridian lobby will feature beautiful new carpeting with Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies.
Additionally, the refreshed furniture will include a blend of rich fabrics and brass accents. A few touches inspired by Florida’s natural beauty and Victorian decorating trends may also be present.

The Refurbishment Is Now Underway
When visiting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort today, we instantly noticed that work on the lobby refurbishment has begun.
While the area remains open and has plenty of seating, a section of the lobby has been walled off.
Here is another look.
As you can see, Disney is first working on the space around the Floridian’s iconic birdcage.
The construction can be best seen from the resort’s upper floors.
When Will the New Lobby Debut?
Disney has not announced a completion date for the refurbishment of the Grand Floridian Resort’s lobby.
When work does wrap up, it will mark the end of a multi-year renovation of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
