Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King is the new musical dining experience guests can enjoy onboard the Disney Destiny when it sets sail later this year! The experience celebrates Simba’s brave journey and adventures that brought him to where he is now–King of the Pride Lands. We get to preview some of the restaurant’s offerings and entertainment–let’s check it out!

Food Preview
Of course, guests won’t just be feasting on this classic tale and its accompanying music (which we’ll get to shortly)–they will also be enjoying the themed cuisine! We got to sample some of the menu items during the event, including the Peri-Peri Shrimp, which has sautéed chili-garlic shrimp, creamy gouda pap, toasted corn, and peri-peri sauce!

Overall, the food was very similar to what you can expect from Boma – Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was very flavorful and spiced with African influences and ingredients! And Disney Parks Blog shared a sneak peek at more dishes that we weren’t able to try, including:
- Nala’s Roasted Pork Tenderloin – Black-eyed bean-chorizo casserole, fried yuca, thyme, and pickled purple onions
- Cape Malay Shrimp Curry – Garam masala, turmeric, cumin-coconut curry sauce, aromatic basmati rice, cucumber sambal, and butter roti
- Heirloom Tomato Kachumbari – Golden beet caviar, nut and seed dukkah-spiced goat cheese, and pea tendrils

The food preview also included a look at the restaurant’s place settings. The plates are accented with colorful designs matching the restaurant’s hues. (Check out the adorable Simba design on the kids plate.) The placemat and utensils have more themed designs, while the salt and pepper shakers have gazelle and zebra icons.

We also got to peek at the kids menu, along with the Timon Sipper Cup (which we’ve seen before) and the Hyena Popcorn Bucket.

Entertainment Preview
While the show is still in development, we were able to learn quite a bit about the experience! The tale of The Lion King is told by two storytellers–Mwongozo and Shaha, via singing and narration. Authentic African drums, an interpretive dancer, and a trio of live musicians will help enhance the experience.
Chaz and Emily, the singers during our preview, sang “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

The “windows” around the restaurant help immerse guests in the storyline with lighting effects, including a rising sun and dark sky.

During the preview, we were also able to get the first look at the restaurant’s Cast Member costumes! The costume features a color palette inspired by the Pride Lands, with an orange button-up, a brown vest with geometric patterns and colorful trim, slacks, and a blazer.
