Today, MickeyBlog is thrilled to be reporting to you from aboard the Disney Wish. Along with our friends at MickeyTravels, we are proud to have been invited along by Disney to attend a special preview event of the Disney Destiny.
For our music-loving reporters, it was the information about the Destiny’s live entertainment offerings which caught our attention. After all, who doesn’t love a bit of Disney music when sailing the high seas?
Disney’s Hercules
When the Disney Destiny’s entertainment offerings were first announced, it was revealed that a live production of Disney’s Hercules would feature in the ship’s theater, in a stage adaptation of the toe-tapping Disney classic animated movie.
Today, we were so excited to learn more about this full-scale production! The preview included a panel with the co-directors, choreographers, and creator of the new show.
Disney Hercules will stay true to the original story and spirit of the beloved film but will aso have a fresh, contemporary retelling centered around the legendary soundtrack.
In addition to all of the iconic songs from the film like “Go the Distance,” “Zero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love,” Disney Hercules will include the theatrical debut of “Shooting Star,” a heartfelt ballad originally written for the movie by Alan Menken and David Zippel.
The creative team wanted current choreography paired with the heart and nostalgia of the story. The movements celebrate the movie with new musical arrangements inspired by the soulfulness of gospel music with the energy of a pop concert.
As a special treat, we had the chance to hear Hercules star Corey Bradford perform “Go the Distance!”

In addition to the amazing music and dance, their is a fantastic set inspired by Jesus Christ Superstar. The show features changing staircases, Grecian aesthetics, gazebos, busts, and more.
