And, we just found out more about the transformation coming to a popular Disney World hotel!
Grand Floridian Lobby Transformation
The lobby will soon be transformed at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Disney shared a first look at the concept art plans for the space, which includes a NEW lobby bar!

The new bar is inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage and will pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots with intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents. You will even be able to see colorful birds in the stained glass and murals throughout the atrium!
Across from the bar, guests will still be able to find the Victorian cage-style elevator that’s been a staple in the lobby.
The surrounding lobby, staircase, and front desk will be refreshed with botanical accents and inviting colors to create an airy, garden-like atmosphere in the space.
Imagineers are designing this refurbishment with a focus on maintaining the heart and story of the Grand Floridian while adding fresh new life into the lobby.
There will be new carpeting with Victorian-inspired borders and scrollwork featuring hand-drawn florals inspired by turn-of-the-century botanical studies. You will also find updated furnishings that will blend rich finishes and brass accents with cozy, welcoming fabrics.
And, expect to see a few playful touches inspired by Florida’s natural beauty and Victorian decorating trends!
According to Scott Gustin on X, the work on the lobby will begin later this month and be ongoing throughout 2025. Due to the construction, the iconic gingerbread house will not be available at the resort this holiday season.
This transformation of the lobby will mark the culmination of the resort’s multi-year refurbishment, which has seen enhancements to the guest rooms and refreshed dining experiences. You can see this at Victoria & Albert’s, Citricos, Narcoossee’s, and 1900 Park Fare.
