‘Snow White’ May Fail to Gross $100 Million in Domestic Theaters
As the talk of the box office has quickly turned to A Minecraft Movie, which delivered an astounding $157 million debut in theaters this weekend, it is easy to forget that just three weeks ago, Disney’s Snow White debuted in theaters.
For those who haven’t been following along, Snow White hit theaters on March 21 amid a myriad of controversies. Thanks to Disney’s handling of the film’s dwarfs and numerous controversial comments made by Rachel Zegler, it was clear that Snow White had its work cut out for it.

Unfortunately for Disney, the film was unable to overcome its baggage and delivered a paltry opening weekend. Any hope that families would still turn out to theaters was dashed last weekend when the film collapsed.
A Continuing Disaster
By the time Snow White scurried into its third weekend in the theaters, it had become clear that the film was a box office bomb. As we reported, Disney is poised to lose over $100 million.
In its third weekend in theaters, the news for Snow White went from bad to worse. The film only managed to add a measly $5.8 million to its domestic box office haul, a drop of 58% from its disastrous second weekend.

At this rate, it is unlikely that the film, which had a $270 million budget, will even have the legs to gross $100 million in domestic theaters.
How Much Will Disney Lose?
When reports circulated earlier this week that Disney could lose upwards of $115 million on Snow White, analysts predicted that the live-action remake would manage to end its run north of the $100 million mark at the domestic box office.

If the film can’t even manage that, Disney will be in for an even bigger loss than previously anticipated.
Snow White is in theaters now.
