Which Attractions Should Disney Update Next?
The Walt Disney Company is clearly listening to all your complaints and suggestions.
We know this because Disney has made several recent changes directly impacted by guest feedback.

Country Bear Musical Jamboree
In 2024, Disney modernized Country Bear Jamboree by adding Disney music and a new story.
Later this year, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close to update the equipment and ride experience.
So, while Disney is listening, we should speak loudly about what we want.
Which attractions should Disney update next? I have thoughts…
Avatar Flight of Passage
Let’s quickly establish a few ground rules. The first is that I’m excluding anything with a relatively recent update.
That saves Mission: SPACE, which Disney gave a new ride storyline in 2017.
Also, I’ll leave the shows to Disney, as I don’t know their criteria for updates.
Disney seems pretty good at identifying which attractions need help, though, as Country Bear Musical Jamboree is fantastic.

Star Tours – Queue
The new Finding Nemo show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is also much better than the previous one.
As for Star Tours, Disney updates that attraction more often than anything else in the lineup.

Soarin’
Even Soarin’ recently received a change to diminish the glaring issue with the Eiffel Tower.
So, overall, I think we’d all have to admit that Disney has made several excellent decisions lately.

Flight of Passage
What’s next? Well, I’d lead with the most popular ride at Animal Kingdom.
While I’m not a huge fan of Avatar Flight of Passage, it’s objectively an excellent ride that people love.

The problem is that by the end of 2025, this story will be two full films behind the Avatar film franchise.
I’d gently suggest that Disney do the same thing here as with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and add a new mission.

Once the evil fire Na’vi enter the public consciousness, fans will want to encounter them during the ride.
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros
This one’s an obvious suggestion for those of you paying attention to other Disney theme parks.
While I’m actually an evangelist for Gran Fiesta Tour, I know that a Coco ride is coming to Disney California Adventure soon.
Imagineers have described that attraction as a combination of Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.
I have no idea how it’ll work, but a Coco boat ride sounds like an ideal fit at the Mexico pavilion, doesn’t it?
I mean, that’s what Gran Fiesta Tour already is. So, the fit makes sense soon after Coco debuts at Disneyland Resort.
Disney will have created the ride mechanics and should be able to transition them to the current Gran Fiesta Tour space.

Gran Fiesta Tour
As much as I love the ride, I vividly recall being shocked any time I have to wait in line here, which isn’t great news for Disney.
Journey into Imagination with Figment

I recently wrote about this in a different article about changes I’d like to see at Disney.
So, I won’t beat you over the head with the situation here, but I’ll also be ridiculous if I ignored it here.

Figment in his holiday sweater
If Disney wants to know my biggest complaint about any current attraction, it’s the lackluster quality of the Figment ride.
This character is synonymous with EPCOT, yet Disney has obscured Figment’s origins and delivered a lazy ride experience.
There’s simply no excuse for a character this popular to be tethered to a story this insipid.
Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids
Here’s a more challenging conversation in that I don’t know what Disney can do to improve Kali River Rapids.
As a ride experience, it’s a lot of fun spending ten minutes getting soaking wet.

Kali River Rapids
On a hot day, you can always count on Kali River Rapids to have a long line because everyone knows it’s a dependable ride.
Kali River Rapids promises to cool you down when you’re steaming, and it’s excellent at that.

Kali River Rapids
The problem is that nobody has any idea about the story of this ride.
Disney has seeded a conservation message throughout the experience, starting with the attraction queue.

Kali River Rapids
I know that few people are aware of this fact, though, as people often express confusion when I discuss said message.
Thus, in a perfect world, Disney would reimagine the ride experience to express the conservation aspect more clearly.

I honestly don’t even know whether that’s possible, though. So, Disney, maybe just turn it into a Big Hero 6 ride or something?
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Here’s another ride that’s perfectly fine as is, but we know that there’s something better out there.
In June 1999, Magic Kingdom introduced the replacement for Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
Tokyo Disney
For me, that was one strike against Winnie the Pooh right there. But the real problem came the following year.
Tokyo Disneyland debuted Pooh’s Hunny Hunt the following year.

Tokyo Disney
In NFL terms, this is like drafting Mitch Trubinsky with Patrick Mahomes II still on the board.
The Chicago Bears did that in 2017, and it remains just as funny in 2025.

With Disney, Magic Kingdom’s version of a Hundred-Acre Wood ride is perfectly charming. But it’s no Pooh’s Hunny Hunt.
After 25 years, I say it’s time for Disney to bring an American version of that ride to the world’s most popular theme park.
Tomorrowland Speedway

Tomorrowland Speedway
As I’ve discussed on several occasions, this car race ride exemplifies terrible uses of theme park space.
You can glance at a Magic Kingdom map to appreciate the truth of the matter.

Tomorrowland Speedway holds a large footprint in the highly valuable real estate at Tomorrowland.
As a ride, it’s only marginally better than any go-kart track in your area…and maybe not even as good as some.

Disney
If Disney is fixing Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, park officials have NO excuse to leave Tomorrowland Speedway as is.
Toy Story Mania!

Finally, we have one of my favorite Walt Disney World attractions…and no, I’m not calling for sweeping changes here.
I’m listing Toy Story Mania! under the auspice that Disney is currently modernizing Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Disney
As a funny bit of trivia I like to break out occasionally, Toy Story Mania! still runs on Windows XP.
That particular operating system is 24 years old. Fun fact: Neither Paul Skenes nor Olivia Dunne was even born yet!

These are two millionaire adult athletes and an adorable couple whose entire existence is pre-dated by Windows XP.
Toy Story Mania! could definitely use some quality-of-life updates akin to the ones Buzz Lightyear is getting.
