Uwanja Camp Playground Reopens With a Splash
There are always going to be countless adventures to be had at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, but it looks like the resort’s summertime activity line-up just got even more exciting!
Uwanja Camp – the resort’s wild water playground – has just reopened to the public, and our MickeyBlog reporters are there right now to show us all around the area!

Uwanja Camp
Located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, Uwanja Camp is part of the larger Samawati Springs pool complex at Kidani Village.

While the 118,138-gallon pool boasts a 128-foot waterslide and plenty of space to swim and relax, Uwanja Camp offers something even more unique.
It’s an epic water playground village where children of all ages can play, splash and explore!

Earlier in the year, we reported that Uwanja Camp was scheduled for a refurbishment, meaning the resort would be without its epic water splashpad for a series of weeks.

During the closure, our visiting reporters noted work was being done to the water tower structure in the camp’s “Departure Zone”, with a flurry of maintenance spread out across the area.
Now, we’re thrilled to see that not only has the playground fully reopened, but it has also evidently benefitted from a lick of paint or two in the meantime!

Ready for Exploring
Throughout the newly-reopened, jungle-themed playground, we can tell that the refurbishment efforts included replacing wooden features around the facilities, and freshly painting over various elements.

The whole area looks as good as new, and we’re so glad this work has been undertaken just in time for the start of the busy spring-summer season here at Walt Disney World!

Fun For Everyone
If you’ve never visited this part of Kidani Village, you might be interested to know that Uwanja Camp is actually split into three distinct zones, each suited to children of different ages.
For the littles, under-4s can enjoy the animal images and shallow pool of Observation Station. Then, children age 5-7 are able to explore the area surrounding that leaky water tower of the Departure Zone – the fabulous center structure here at Uwanja!

Lastly, Base Camp is the third zone at the playground, where kids over 8 can have fun firing a range of water cannons.
It’s a fabulous playground, and just one of the many reasons we’d always recommend a stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas!
