Cinderella Castle Will Be Undergoing a Refurbishment Soon
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that 2025 will be a massive year for Walt Disney World.
After a jam-packed D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event last year, Disney World has numerous large-scale projects that are either underway or soon will be.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the demolition of Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama and the construction of Tropical Americas are already underway. Additionally, we are currently waiting for the debut of Zootopia: Better Zoogether! later this year.
Meanwhile, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is preparing for the demolition of Muppet Courtyard to facilitate the construction of Monstropolis. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is also set to undergo an overhaul in the near future, and both Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure will debut this year.
Finally, we have Magic Kingdom.
Changes Afoot at Magic Kingdom
Like the rest of Disney World, the resort’s flagship park has some major construction projects underway or on the docket.
At some point, Disney will close the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island to create a new Cars land. Additionally, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently undergoing a year-long refurbishment.
Now, it looks like another construction project is coming to Magic Kingdom.
A New Cinderella Castle Permit Has Been Filed
This morning, Walt Disney World filed a new Notice of Commencement for construction on Cinderella Castle.

The permit calls for the re-roofing of the iconic structure and assigns the task to Tecta America Southeast, a commercial roofing specialist.
Disney has not announced any details about a possible Cinderella Castle refurbishment. The last time the structure was altered was in 2020 when it underwent a cosmetic update ahead of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
Hopefully, we will learn more about the project soon!
