Kermit the Frog to Give the 2025 Commencement Speech at the University of Maryland
The University of Maryland announced today that Kermit the Frog will deliver the college’s 2025 commencement address on May 21.
After entertaining audiences for decades and amassing millions of fans, Kermit will share the wisdom he has accumulated over the years with the Summer 2024, Winter 2024, and Spring 2025 graduates, family, and friends.
The commencement will be held at SECU Stadium.
Kermit Has Spoken at the University of Maryland Before
The 2025 commencement will not be the first time that Kermit has addressed students at the University of Maryland. Last year, the iconic Muppet addressed a sold-out crowd as part of the College of Arts and Humanities Dean’s Lecture Series.
Now, the green amphibian is ready to make his triumphant return.

“Nothing could make these feet happier than to speak at the University of Maryland. I just know the class of 2025 is going to leap into the world and make it a better place, so if a few encouraging words from a frog can help, then I’ll be there!” Kermit said.
Jim Henson Graduated From Maryland
Kermit’s commencement address will be especially meaningful, as Muppets creator Jim Henson graduated from the University of Maryland in 1960 with a degree in home economics.
