Disney Quickly Files New Permit For the Space Ranger Spin Update
Earlier this morning, we brought you the exciting news that Buzz Ranger’s Space Ranger Spin will receive some major updates later this year.
The fan-favorite Magic Kingdom attraction continues to be one of Tomorrowland’s most popular rides. Still, if we are being honest, Space Ranger Spin has become a bit dated over its 27-year run in The Most Magical Place on Earth.

This August, Disney will enhance the attraction with new Star Cruisers, blasters, targets, and even a new scene! When it reopens, the attraction will still be the Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin that fans have come to know and love, but for a new generation.
Disney Has Filed a New Permit For the Attraction Overhaul
Just hours after Disney announced the Space Ranger Spin update, we can confirm that Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for the attraction.

The Notice of Commencement filed today calls for the installation of set elements likely related to the attraction’s new scene.
The work has been assigned to Icarus Exhibits, a specialty design-build fabrication shop that primarily works with aluminum and fiberglass.

Disney has previously hired the contractor for work on Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, TRON Lightcycle/Run, Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Rapunzel’s Castle in Fantasyland.
The Project Will Begin In August
While the current iteration of Space Ranger Spin will remain open until August, it is clear that Disney is wasting no time on the project!
