Disney Files New DINOSAUR Permit as the Attraction’s Countdown to Extinction Continues
While guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom will still have the opportunity to ride DINOSAUR through the end of the year, the countdown to extinction for the opening day attraction has begun.
As a quick recap, at last year’s D23: the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced that DinoLand, U.S.A., would close at Animal Kingdom to make way for a new Tropical Americas land.
However, the land is closing in phases to give guests one more chance to visit the prehistoric area. Earlier this year, we saw Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama demolished. Still, the rest of DinoLand, which includes DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, and Restaurantosaurus, will remain open through the end of 2025.

While guests still have some time to visit the Dino Institute before it goes extinct, Disney is already preparing for the massive construction project that will begin when the rest of DinoLand closes.
A New DINOSAUR Permit Has Been Filed
Today, Walt Disney World filed a new Notice of Commencement for general construction at 501 Restaurtosaurs Rd, which corresponds with DINOSAUR.
The new permit assigns the work to Ferran Services & Contracting Inc., a company that does heating, cooling, and electrical work.

Because the permit expires next March and DINOSAUR will not close until at least January 2026, it is difficult to glean any information from the new document.
However, it is clear that Disney is continuing to move full speed ahead as they transform DinoLand, U.S.A., into Tropical Americas.
