Walt Disney World Swan Unveils New Room Renovations Amid Major Expansion
The Walt Disney World Swan Hotel has recently completed a full remodel of all 756 guest rooms and suites.
This marks a significant milestone in a $275 million transformation to modernize and expand the Swan and Dolphin Hotels.

This transformation aims to enhance guest experiences while solidifying the resort as a premier convention destination.
A Fresh Look
As part of the renovations, the Swan’s guest rooms have been updated and now feature contemporary touches, including white oak tile flooring, hand-tufted rugs, and white walls accented with a striking blue feature wall.

In addition, wooden headboards with built-in storage, sleeper sofas, leatherette desk chairs, new lighting fixtures, and nautical-inspired artwork have refreshed the look.

The design embraces a coastal aesthetic, creating a serene retreat for visitors.
A Historic Expansion
The project, which includes the resort and the Dolphin’s convention facilities, was first announced on October 30, 2024. The 120,000-square-foot expansion will enhance the property’s event-hosting capabilities, and completion is anticipated for late summer 2026.

A key feature of this expansion is a new two-story annex connected to the existing convention space that will feature:
- 41,000 square feet of multi-purpose space and 24,000 square feet of pre-function space on the first floor
- A 41,000-square-foot divisible ballroom with 14,000 square feet of pre-function foyer space on the second floor

Designed to honor the original Michael Graves aesthetic, the annex will incorporate water themes, warm wooden elements, an open atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows, a winding staircase, and a stunning two-story chandelier.
Convention Industry Growth and Challenges
The Swan and Dolphin’s expansion aligns with a surge in Orlando’s convention industry. In 2024, the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) hosted 187 events with a record-breaking 1,566,167 attendees.
The first quarter of 2025 is expected to be even busier, with 51 citywide events.

However, economic uncertainty related to global trade policies could impact future projections.
Visit Orlando Chief Marketing Officer Danielle Hollander shared, “When you have manufacturers [and] organizations that bring things in from other parts of the world … taxes have an impact on their ability to [do so].”
Swan and Dolphin: A Convention Powerhouse
Once the expansion is complete, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin complex will offer 469,000 square feet of meeting space and 2,619 guest rooms, making it one of the largest convention properties on the East Coast.

The complex is owned by Tishman Realty and MetLife and managed by Marriott International Inc.
With these enhancements, the Swan and Dolphin are set to offer a luxurious and functional experience for both leisure and business travelers.
