Bob Iger Previews the Future of Disney Parks at the 2025 Annual Shareholders Meeting

Bob Iger was again in the spotlight when The Walt Disney Company held its annual shareholders meeting.

Unlike last year’s annual meeting, the 2025 gathering was a largely muted affair devoid of the headline-grabbing announcements that typically come out of Disney presentations.

One point that Iger clearly wanted to make today, however, is that Disney Experiences is about to undergo an unprecedented expansion.

Previewing many of the upcoming projects at the Disney Parks, including the Cars land coming to Magic Kingdom, the Avatar land and Coco attraction coming to Disney California Adventure, and the new Lion King ride under development for Disneyland Paris, Iger gave a sweeping update on Disney’s grandiose plans.

“Last year, we talked about our plans to turbocharge growth in this segment through strategic investments,” he said. “Right now, we have more projects underway around the world than at any time in our history. Magic Kingdom is undergoing the largest expansion ever, including a new area inspired by Cars and the much-anticipated Villains-themed land. A ‘Monsters, Inc.’ themed land is coming to Hollywood Studios.”

Economic Implications

In addition to creating new lands, attractions, and restaurants for guests to experience, Disney’s expansion plans will also create jobs.

Disney, Iger said, is “proud of the positive economic impact these projects will have in the communities in which we operate, including creating thousands of new jobs in Florida and California.”

While fans will likely be disappointed that Disney did not make more announcements today, there is nonetheless a lot to look forward to.

It will interesting to see how Disney’s plans unfold over the next couple of years.
