Bob Iger Is Asking His Creative Teams to Consider Making New Figment Short-Form Content
At the conclusion of The Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholder meeting today, Disney CEO Bob Iger was asked the question that was on everyone’s mind: Will Disney ever create content outside of the theme parks that features Figment?
As most fans know, Figment has been one of Disney’s most popular theme park characters since he debuted at EPCOT in 1982. Even among the radical changes to both the park and the Journey Into Imagination attraction, Figment remains beloved.
Considering the purple dragon’s enduring popularity, Iger noted that he was asked about Figment at 15 shareholder meetings. Finally, acquiescing fan demand, Iger agreed to ask his creative teams to develop new Figment content.

“I’m going to ask our creative team to make some short-form videos of Figment,” Iger said. “Obviously, he’s more popular than just a walk-around character at our parks.”
Figment’s Career Outside the Disney Parks
Based on Iger’s reaction to the investor question, it sounds like Disney has already been considering creating new Figment content.
Outside the theme parks, Figment has previously starred in several Disney-produced educational films in the late 1980s and has had two different comic book runs. At one time, there were even reports that a live-action Figment film was in development. Still, little has materialized in recent years.
Will Figment Come to Disney+?
With Disney already working on a new Oswald the Lucky Rabbit series for Disney+, perhaps Figment will soon join him.
How great would it be to see Dreamfinder and Figment teaming up once again for a series of shorts?

While Disney has not announced anything official yet, Figment fans can have one little spark of hope.
