‘Not Just a Goof’ Is Heading to Disney+ This April
Last year, we brought you the exciting news that a new documentary about the creation of A Goofy Movie was premiering at the Wonderland International Film Festival.
Titled Not Just a Goof, the documentary unveiled the untold story behind the creation of the cult-classic film. As it turns out, even the team behind A Goofy Movie did not predict how popular the film would become.
“In 2022, directors Christopher Ninness and Eric Kimelton set out to make a simple documentary about their favorite Disney film. Then they discovered the complex power of art, and how a character as silly as Goofy can mean so much to so many people. So begins the untold story behind that unlikely cult classic, ‘A Goofy Movie,’” the documentary’s synopsis reads.

Since Not Just a Goof premiered at Wonderland, A Goofy Movie fans have been itching to see the documentary for themselves.

‘Not Just a Goof’ Is Heading to Streaming
In celebration of A Goofy Movie‘s 30th anniversary, Not Just a Goof is coming to Disney+ on April 7.

Soon, fans will be able to relive Max and Goofy’s epic adventure while also hearing from many of the key creative forces behind the film’s creation.
“This captivating account reveals how a team of untested young filmmakers took on the challenge of building their first feature around an iconic Disney character, without realizing the obstacles, clashes, and victories awaiting them,” the film teases.

“Through interviews with the key figures involved in ‘A Goofy Movie’s creation, as well as rare, previously unreleased archival footage and stunning animation, Ninness and Kimelton’s film gets inside the studio’s inner workings and provides an unfiltered perspective on behind-the-scenes magic.
