McKim’s Mile House, a Disney Vacation Club Lounge, Officially Opens in Magic Kingdom
A new chapter in Magic Kingdom history began this morning when McKim’s Mile House officially opened in Frontierland.
The first Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge ever located in Magic Kingdom, McKim’s Mile House is located in the former location of the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.
Inside the lounge, DVC members are invited to “relax, recharge, and reconnect in a space steeped in Disney storytelling.”

Here is everything that you need to know!
What’s In a Name?
McKim’s Mile House is named after Disney Legend Sam McKim, an Imagineer who was instrumental in bringing Disneyland’s Frontierland to life.

When creating the new space, Imagineers were inspired by the mile houses of the American West. For those who don’t know, mile houses were essentially early hotels where frontiersmen could rest and relax before setting out again.
McKim’s Mile House is known far and wide as The Frontier’s Best Kept Secret, a nod to the former Disney Vacation Club slogan, “Discover the best kept Disney secret.”

The Lounge’s Backstory
According to the new lounge’s backstory, the Mile House is operated by the fictional McKim family.

The lounge’s second floor (which is not accessible to guests) features boarding rooms that appear to be occupied by some of Frontierlands’ famous residents. These include Barnabas T. Bullion, the owner and founder of Bug Thunder Mining Company, and a certain M. Davis (a subtle nod to Imagineer Marc Davis).
Lining the walls of the lounge’s second story is original artwork from Sam McKim himself!

Back on the ground floor, images that appear to be drawn by the McKim children can be found.
The Amenities
Club McKim’s Mile House features a variety of comfortable sofas and chairs, where DVC members can rest and recharge.

Other amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, phone charging spaces, and complimentary soft drinks.
The Lounge Is Open Daily
Disney Vacation Club McKim’s Mile House – A Member Lounge is open daily from 11 AM until 6 PM ET. You must show proof of DVC membership to enter.
