Have a “Grumpy” Experience at Magnolia Golf Course at Walt Disney World
Calling all golf fans! If you’ve ever played golf at Walt Disney World, you know their courses are nothing short of spectacular.
Lush fairways, pristine greens, and just enough Disney magic sprinkled throughout to remind you that you’re still at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
But among the four championship courses, one stands out for its challenging final stretch and some new updates! Let’s check out the latest changes to the Magnolia Golf Course.
Grumpy’s Gauntlet
As you near the end of your round on the Magnolia course, the last five holes—Nos. 14, 15, 16, and 17—have been beautifully redesigned and renamed “Grumpy’s Gauntlet.”
Each of the four holes that comprise Grumpy’s Gauntlet will provide for multiple teeing grounds at varying yardages so they will be playable by golfers of any skill level:
14th – “The Backside of Water” – Par 4, ranging from 344 to 506 yards
15th – “The Dinglehopper” – Par 5, ranging from 463 to 597 yards
16th – “An Element of Fun” – Par 4, ranging from 310 to 456 yards
17th – “The Big Green” – Par 3, ranging from 143 to 231 yards
Disney Inspiration
Beyond Grumpy’s Gauntlet, all 18 holes have undergone dramatic enhancements, including fully reconstructed greens through a process of excavation, reshaping, and contouring of the new putting surfaces.
The teeing grounds have also been rebuilt, and the chipping and bunker areas that surround each of the greens and flank the fairways have been dramatically renovated.

Many of the areas off the fairways have been transformed into more natural and sandy waste areas, with greenery and flowers.
These changes, in addition to being visually appealing, have a positive environmental impact. It will reduce the need to irrigate and fertilize these areas and also create new thriving wildlife habitats.

This is a key initiative under the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, which all Walt Disney World® Golf courses are certified members.
Each of the 18 holes also features new signage at their respective tee boxes and given a new whimsical name. Be sure to read each intentionally inspirational quote from either Walt Disney or Arnold Palmer that is located at each hole.
Greatest Green Ever Played
In addition to these updates, there is also a cool, new 18-hole putting green at the course (It’s fondly called the “Greatest Green Ever Played”) that features a scorecard and hole locations that change almost daily.
It’s great as a warmup before you tee off and is an excellent option for kids and beginners. The name pays homage to the film, The Greatest Game Ever Played, which is based on the early life of amateur golf champion Francis Ouimet.
Time to Tee Off
The reimagined Magnolia Golf Course marks the most extensive renovation since its debut in 1971.
Now that the renovations are complete, it is the perfect time to experience the fun for yourself.
