Disney Details: What’s a Plaid?
You want to vacation at Walt Disney World, not major in theme park details.
Disney is your escape from the real world, not a place where you want to spend all your time learning.
If people wanted Disney to be educational, infotainment would still be a thing at EPCOT, and the Disney Institute would be open.
You’ll find Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa there instead.

Most of our readers come to MickeyBlog to find out what you need to know for a park visit.
So, I’m introducing a new article this week where we provide you the Disney Details you desire about popular and/or arcane topics.

Today, we’ll start by discussing Disney Plaids, the most prestigious of all Cast Members.
What’s a Plaid?

That’s a loaded question! A “Plaid” is an insider term for the Disney Cast Members who host VIP Tours.
You’ll easily identify them due to their outfits. These individuals wear colorful plaid vests to distinguish them at the parks.

When you notice a Plaid, you’re looking at the best of the best in terms of Disney customer service.
Elyssa Antonelle, the founder of MickeyTravels, recently participated in an interview where she described Plaids as follows:

“A Disney plaid is like your fairy godmother during a Disney vacation.
“Plaids can seemingly wave their magic wands and make your dreams come true.

“They’ll escort you around the Disney campus, making sure you’re treated like Cinderella until the proverbial clock strikes midnight on your visit.”
In other words, a Disney Plaid makes the magic happen during a park visit.
They can do some magical things like grab you a table at a sold-out restaurant or hold you a place in line for the parade.
These Cast Members make you feel like Disney royalty as you explore the various theme parks.

When you pay for a VIP Tour, a Plaid will arrive at your hotel and provide you with chauffeur service to and from the parks.
They’ll drive you through otherwise private areas of the Disney World campus, places where only employees are allowed.

In some instances, a Plaid will drop you off at a hidden entrance, such as a parking lot beside Pandora – The World of Avatar.
You’ll exit the car and be standing in line at Avatar Flight of Passage in only a couple of minutes.
Speaking of Lines…

A Plaid can do much more for you than just drive you around the parks.
They also double as your Lightning Lane Premier Pass for the day.
When you’re with a Plaid, they can get you into the Lightning Lane for any participating attraction.
In fact, one of the secrets at Disney is that a Plaid can sometimes get you even closer to the front of the line!
A handful of attractions have hidden entrances, and your Plaid can sneak you in.
So, on a select few attractions, you’ll wait even less time than people in the Lightning Lanes!

You’ll pretty much walk straight onto the ride. That’s the power of being with a Plaid!
Along the way, you’ll learn more about the parks and resorts, as Plaids are experts at Disney facts and trivia.

They can tell you about the history of attractions, movies, and even Walt Disney himself.
Your tour guide will keep you entertained while you stand in line if you want, or they can stay busy while you ride attractions.
Plaids can grab you snacks as you stand in line, and they’ll sometimes even babysit so that adults can experience thrill rides.
In short, the Plaid on your Disney VIP Tour will eliminate all the stress that tourists feel while standing in line at attractions.

Your Plaid knows the secret knock to get you in the building, can tell you everything about the attraction, and will babysit if needed.
Should You Hire a Plaid?

You should know that Disney VIP Tours aren’t cheap and, therefore, aren’t for everyone.
Currently, VIP Tours cost a minimum of $3,150-$6,300, which is the price for seven hours at $450-$900 per hour.

That is the price for up to ten guests, though, which allows for a hack, presuming you don’t mind hanging out with others.
If you can find ten people to chip in, that drops the individual cost to $315-$630, which is MUCH more affordable.

That price is in line with the recently introduced Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which is only good at a single park.
A Plaid can take you anywhere at Walt Disney World. So, you can pick and choose the attractions that matter most to you.

On my last VIP Tour, we visited all four theme parks in a span of seven hours. It sounds fatiguing, but it’s not.
Because your Plaid drives you to and from the parks, you cut down your walking as much as you reduce your line time.
Other Options

So, you’re much more efficient with your vacation time…but you are paying a hefty price for it.
Should you prefer to save money, Lightning Lane Premier Pass costs about 10-20 percent of the price.

However, as I mentioned this service only works at one park. So, when you Park Hop, your Premier Pass doesn’t help any.
Plus, should you travel with at least one other person, you must buy the Premier Pass for each individual, which escalates the cost.

Thus, the VIP Tour may prove to be the best deal. I’d suggest that you speak with a MickeyTravels agent to weigh your options.
These experts have booked countless VIP Tours. They really know their stuff but offer their services free of charge to you.
