What Will Disney Be Like in August 2025
Are you considering a late summer trip to Walt Disney World?
You can’t go wrong by spending a few days at Disney, right?

Disney
The only catch is that you’re not sure what to expect at that time of the year.
So, what will Disney be like in August 2025? Let’s discuss the possibilities.
Visiting Disney in August

Summer crowds
There’s never a bad time to visit Walt Disney World, but August is definitely one of the best times.
The key is that school systems start as early as the first week of August now in many parts of North America.

For those of you who are traveling with school-aged children, that makes August trips more challenging.
You’ll need to work around your child’s schedule or possibly even have them miss some school.

Conversely, for those of you who won’t be traveling with kids, you’ll quickly discover the difference in crowd sizes.
As soon as school begins across North America, Disney crowds shrink dramatically.
That’s phenomenal for you because you’ll spend so much less time standing in line!
Also, Disney doesn’t wait until October to throw a Halloween party these days.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party should start early in the month.
Even if it doesn’t, Halloween decorations will likely appear by the start of August!

So, you can enjoy all the unique aesthetics and also the exclusive holiday-related exclusive theme park merchandise.
How’s the Weather?
Look, I don’t need to tell you that Orlando will be hot during the summer.
There’s a reason why this area used to be swampland. But Walt Disney envisioned something beautiful here.
Now, we have the Most Magical Place on Earth, and it’s largely weatherproofed.
You’ll discover a marvelous combination of indoor attractions and wet rides to keep you comfortable in August.

Also, Disney has added plenty of shade for line queues at various attractions, including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
As for the weather itself, August is mercifully cooler than July.

Summer crowds
The average high temperature ranges from 85 to 94 degrees. You should expect 90 degrees on most August dates.
If you’re unfamiliar with this sort of weather, every degree matters, as 94 degrees somehow feels MUCH hotter than 90 degrees.
Should you visit on a day when the high is in the 80s, you’ll be golden.
On the flip side, the average low temperature ranges from 73 to 78 degrees.

Magic Kingdom crowds
While I can’t put my finger on why, 78 degrees feels quite a bit steamier than 73 degrees.
On most dates, you should anticipate a low of 76 degrees. So, the weather should hover from 76 to 90 degrees overall.
A rainstorm can quickly cool off the area, and these happen quite frequently.
Based on historical weather trends, you should expect significant rain on three days of a five-day visit.
You’ll be thankful for these quick storms, as they can drop the temperature by several degrees in a matter of minutes.
Also, please be aware that Central Florida is almost constantly cloudy in August. I don’t claim to understand it, but it’s a thing.
What’s Fun at Disney in August?

2024 Food & Wine Festival
The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival should be ramping up in August. It’s the most iconic of all EPCOT festivals.
Disney goes overboard each year with dining and drinking options.

Food & Wine Festival merchandise
Also, Disney has vastly improved the merchandise at each festival, offering limited-time exclusive items.
As a pro tip, those of you who imbibe should consider an EPCOT area hotel, preferably one within walking distance.

That way, you can drink until your heart’s content and then enjoy a quick, safe walk home for the evening!
Of course, the festival won’t be the only thing happening at EPCOT this August!

Test Track 3.0 is scheduled to open in the late summer. You’re the beneficiary of this timing.
The modernized version of the ride will be brand new when you arrive! You’ll be among the first guests to experience it.

Test Track
Disney has indicated that this new iteration of Test Track will honor the spirit of my beloved World of Motion.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the new shows based on The Little Mermaid and Disney Villains will be open, too.

You will definitely want to check those out during your visit!
What’s Fun in Orlando in August?

Photo: Universal
The answer to this question is simple. If you don’t mind leaving the Disney Bubble, you should head to Universal Epic Universe.
Universal Orlando Resort is opening a new theme park in May, which makes August an ideal time to go.

Everything will still be new and fresh, but the crowds will have slowed down a bit for the reason we’ve discussed.
Many kids will be back in school, which reduces the number of families that can vacation at this time of year.

So, if you can travel later in August, you’re more likely to find tolerable crowds at Epic Universe.
Remember that this park skews younger due to the nature of the primary draws.

Universal has based three of the themed lands on Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, and Nintendo characters.
While adults (like you!) will have a phenomenal time at Dark Universe and these other places, it’s a family-friendly park.

You gain a massive competitive advantage by waiting until school is back in session.
Elsewhere in Central Florida, you’ll find baseball to the north and south, and you can easily reach these stadiums via Brightline.

College football will also start ramping up, as will the NFL.
You may find some games in the area, depending on your travel dates.
Final Thoughts

August is always a good time to visit the parks, but 2025 will be particularly good.
The combination of a new ride, two new shows, and a new theme park in the area is an enticing combination.
You’ll probably want to consider your options for an August vacation.
