In case you haven’t realized today is March 14, also known as Pi Day!
Never ones to miss an opportunity to celebrate, the Animal Care Team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom commemorated the mathy holiday by making pies for the park’s anteaters.
Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Animals, Science, and Environment, took to Instagram today to share a behind-the-scenes look at how the animal nutrition expertise whipped up the treats!

Cali enjoys the pie.
“Who knew math could taste this yummy? 🥧🍽️ This 3.14, Cali and Annie got into the Pi Day spirit with a “pie” of their own! Animal nutrition experts whipped up several consisting of all their favorites including banana, avocado, and sweet potato,” he shared.
Creating the Pies
To celebrate Pi Day, the nutrition team created three separate treats out of a banana base.
The crust was formed out of pellets that are custom made to fit the diets of each animal.

After whipping up the pies, it was time to deliver them to Cali and Annie, Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s anteaters.
