New Mara Jade Skywalker Hilt Marks a First For Disney’s Legacy Lightsabers
Since Disney acquired Star Wars in 2012, we have seen an explosion of new merchandise arriving from a galaxy far, far away.
With the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, Disney Parks have become the ultimate place to find some of the rarest Star Wars memorabilia in the galaxy.
Of all the new Star Wars merchandise that Disney churns out, perhaps none is more popular than legacy lightsaber hilts.
Produced exclusively for the parks and the Disney Store, the replica lightsabers faithfully recreate some of the most iconic Jedi weapons in history.
Since the collection was introduced, the legacy lightsaber hilts have drawn exclusively on the canon Star Wars universe. That has all changed now that Disney has released a Mara Jade lightsaber!
Who Is Mara Jade?
For those who don’t know, Mara Jade was introduced in what is now referred to as Star Wars Legends. Initially raised as an assassin and servant to Emperor Palpatine, Mara Jade proved to be strong in the force.

After the fall of the Empire, Mara Jade worked as a smuggler. Eventually, however, she became a full-fledged Jedi Master and married Luke Skywalker.

The release of the Mara Jade Skywalker lightsaber hilt marks the first time that legacy lightsabers have been inspired by Star Wars Legends.
The Newest Legacy Lightsaber Set
The lightsaber set comes in a grey box featuring the emblems of both the Empire and the New Jedi Order. In addition to the hilt, the set comes with a variant edition of Star Wars: Mara Jade—By The Emperor’s Hand, Issue #1 by Timothy Zahn, Michael A. Stackpole, Carlos Ezquerra, Michael Taylor, and James Sinclair.
