Disney Legend Dick Van Dyke Takes to the Stage to Raise Money For Wildfire Relief
Dick Van Dyke was one of the thosands of California residents who was forced to flee his home last December as wildfires devastated the Golden State.
After taking to social media to inform fans that he had safely fled his home due to the Franklin Fire, Van Dyke later admitted that his escape was more harrowing than he initially let on.
As it turns out, the Disney Legend was rescued by neighbors who found him crawling toward his car in an attempt to evacuate.

“It was coming from the hill, you could see it,” he explained to Today. “And oh my God. We got out of here. I was trying to crawl to the car. And I had exhausted myself. I couldn’t get up. Three neighbors came and carried me out and came back and put out a little fire in the guest house and saved me.”
Van Dyke Performs For Wildfire Relief
Just months after the frightenig ordeal, the 99-year-old Van Dyke took to the stage with his a cappela group, The Vantastix, at the Vandy Camp fundraiser for fire relief in Malibu.

Joined by his wife, Arlene Silver, and sporting a “Step in Time” shirt, Van Dyke performed numerous songs including “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
After his performance, the Hollywood luminary participated in a question-and-answer session for fans in the audience.
Always the showman, Van Dyke looked at home on the stage.

As he heads towards his 100th birthday, Dick Van Dyke is showing no signs of slowing down. For that, we should all be thankful.
