Magic Kingdom’s ‘Cars’ Attraction Will Feature a NEW Ride Vehicle!
The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW has been full of exciting project updates and announcements!

They’ve announced the arrival of Mando and Grogu on Smuggler’s Run, the debut of BDX droids at various resorts, and discussed the Monsters, Inc. attraction coming to Hollywood Studios. But now, it’s time to buckle up, as we’re jumping into the world of Cars for their next reveal!
NEW Cars Attraction Ride Vehicles
During the panel, Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter and Imagineer Michael Hundgen discussed the Cars attraction coming to Magic Kingdom! Specifically, they touched on the new ride vehicle debuting at the attraction.

Disney Parks Blog posted that the attraction’s intention is to create an emotional experience for guests. To do so, they “needed” to invent an entirely new type of ride vehicle. These vehicles aren’t built in a factory, as they will do much more than just carry you from one point to another.

To develop the perfect ride vehicle, Disney’s team visited Arizona and experienced real off-road cars and how they feel on rocky terrain. The real challenge was for them to determine how to make this experience fit into the world of Cars. The sketches shared with the crowd show early concept ideas for the vehicles, which will have new race car personalities, along with unique names and numbers–just like a real race.
